Accounting

Accounting is the practice and body of knowledge concerned primarily with methods for recording transactions, keeping financial records, performing internal audits, reporting and analyzing financial information to the management, and advising on taxation matters. It is a systematic process of identifying, recording, measuring, classifying, verifying, summarizing, interpreting and communicating financial information. The students are offered with the computer literacy in order to speed up the process, accuracy and order of accounting transactions carried out by fewer employees.

The mission of the program is to train accountants who;

  • are equipped with theoretical and practical background knowledge in the fields of consulting, auditing, cost accounting,
  • are willing to continue their careers in the field of accounting,
  • do not experience the adaptation problems to their profession after graduation
  • can be employed in the sector to fulfill the requirements of it,
  • are knowledgeable and experienced in the fields of general and cost accounting,
  • are knowledgeable about uniform accounting plan, finance and fiscal legislation,
  • are able to use office and accounting package programs effectively,
  • are able to keep the records used in the commercial life in accordance with the legislation,
  • have the habit of working in an organized and systematic way.

In addition to theoretical courses, the students are given the opportunity to practice accounting package programs in the school’s computer labs and to work on office equipments and on the samples taken from the workplace in the accounting laboratories.

A healthy communication among the units of an enterprise is a must for the institution to pursue its activities without any shortcomings. This communication can only be realized through a sound and up-to-date accounting system which renews itself. The graduates of Kastamonu Vocational School of Higher Education, Accounting Program are equipped with adequate knowledge, skills and experience to set up an entire accounting system in an enterprise.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

The graduates can be employed at the accounting departments of state and private institutions and tax offices and revenue offices or they can have their own accounting offices when they meet the legal requirements. In addition, after having completed the required practice trainings, the graduates can get their “Public Accountant” or “Financial Advisor” certificates and launch their own offices. Professional employee in accounting is the one who works for an institution or for her / his own accounting office or the one who contributes to the accounting operations of state institutions.
